My mission is to cultivate empowered leaders within SMEs, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and strategic excellence.
Having run, exited and closed businesses, I understand the challenges of running and growing a business.
With over 30 years of experience in the business world, I’ve had the privilege of working with leading companies like Marks & Spencer, Wyevale Garden Centres, Draeger, and Arco. My journey started in B2C, but it was in B2B that I found my true
calling, particularly working with SMEs. Building my own business from the ground up was a transformative experience, teaching me the hard realities of entrepreneurship—the challenges, the triumphs, and the occasional solitude.
I’ve managed, operated, and successfully exited multiple B2B SMEs, gaining a wealth of experience across all facets of business. This journey has equipped me with a unique skill set, making me a 'Swiss Army Knife' for SMEs—ready to tackle
any challenge that comes my way.
Living with dyslexia, I initially struggled in traditional academic settings, but I developed my own strategies for learning, which led me to achieve an MBA, p/q CIMA, NEBOSH certification, and complete advanced courses like the Cranfield General Management Course and ILM7 in Executive Coaching and Mentoring. I am also a Fellow Of the Assoication of Business Mneotrs. My commitment to continuous learning extends to helping others; through the Help to Grow programme, I mentor business leaders, uncovering a critical gap in the SME
sector—a strong vision but a lack of clear execution strategies.
To bridge this gap, I founded Strategy121, based in Cossington, Somerset. My mission is to empower SMEs with the knowledge and tools they need to achieve sustainable growth and build future-ready leadership teams. I focus on businesses up to £30m in turnover, providing support both locally and nationally.
Outside of work, I’m a dedicated grandfather who treasures time with family. I’ve learned the value of work-life balance—a lesson I’ve come to appreciate over time. In my free time, I enjoy running, cycling, DIY projects, vegetable gardening, playing
chess, and volunteering for the village rewilding project, which keeps me connected to my community and nature.
Outside of work, I cherish being a grandfather and value the time spent with my family. I've learned the importance of work-life balance—it's a lesson that's never too late to learn. My personal interests include running, cycling, DIY projects, vegetable gardening, playing chess, and volunteering for the village rewilding project.
